Eruption in Geldingadalir, Iceland


Members of ICE-SAR monitor the area and tell people to move away if the volcanic gas levels get to high. A volcanic eruption in the Reykjanes peninsula started on 19 march 2021. The eruption in the area of Geldingadalir is considered small but some geologists are predicting it might be active for months or years to come. It takes around 90 minutes to to hike to the eruption from the road and since erupting people have been sightseeing.
